Nail sets galore

I purchased 50 sets of nails that I have been slowly working in finishing for well over a month.  I am finally in the home stretch and plan on getting them listed in my etsy shop and on ebay in the next week or so.  I have been eating, sleeping and breathing nail art.  I also decided to take off my own acrylic nails and now my nails are shot....breaking and super short.  :(

I apologize for the crappy pictures.  My camera is not all that great.  My friend (who happens to be a great photographer) is taking pictures for me to use in listings so they look more professional.

So without further adieu, here are some previews of the some designs I have been working on....

Wild Thing- Hot pink with gray and holographic glitter, mixed animal prints
Drip Drip- Gray with neon glittery "drips"
Flutterby- Monarch Butterfly- Orange gradient base color
Spotty Dotty- Sponge painted teal and shades of pink, with white dots
Rosey Posey- pink roses and green leaves
Feather free- MY FAVORITE so far....Purple base with white and lavender feathers
Aztec-my take on the trend, which is not really my style....but fun anyway!
Fishy Wishy-  Watery bubbles and cutesy koi fish
Zebra Shmebra- (lol couldn't come up with a cute name for this one...)  Black and pink with zebra stripes
Cuppy Cakes- Picture looks orange, but the base is a pretty coral color, with sprinkles, and micro beads.
A day at the beach- Bouncing beachballs and umbrellas
Fruit Stripe YUM- fun colored stripes with holographic glitter
 Peacockadoodle Doo- nuff said.
Mosaic-Picture again doesn't show colors well but this has some really pretty pinks and corals in it.

Until my poor nails grow back in, my nail art might be limited to nail sets and nail wheels, but that will have to do!  Hope you like!

Happy 4th of July!  I did a simple 4th inspired mani, and plan on doing another today.  I am also going to "try" to work on some of my nail sets...  depends on if my kids let me or not!  Anyway, here is my current mani!
I used Fresh Paint Lucky for the red, the new Fergie by Wet n Wild in Rock and Roll for the stars...which you have to work with a bit to get the stars where you want them.  I also used Out The Door's Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat for a little extra shimmer.  The blue dots are Sinful's Blue By You and a white striper for the "fireworks".  I started a flag design but it was after 10 pm and I was tired so it didn't go so well.  I'm going to do one more patriotic design after lunch today, then back to my normal summer brights.  :)

Magnetic Nail Polish

This magnetic nail polish trend has interested me a bit but I am not in love with it.  I like that it is something different and a sort of nail art anyone can do.  But none of that could convince me to spend $8 or more on colors I wasn't in love with.

Enter LA Girl Magnetic nail polish, which sells for $5 AND has some prettier colors I haven't seen anywhere else.  It also has five different magnet designs. (I found these at 5 Below)

I have 6 colors, so I did one nail in each color and the silver bottle is the color I didn't use.  I found that Magnetized (pink)  and Polar Opposite (lighter silver) are the two that show up the least.  The Magnetic Field (dark teal), Repel (navy), Magnetic Force (dark grey) and Attract (dark purple) are fantastic.  The magnet shapes are two variations of straight lines, a bulls eye shaped circle, one that looks like this >>>>, and an asterisk type shape.  The bulls eye circle, not worth getting.  No matter how I work it, it always looks pretty darn stupid.  The straight line magnets are great, as is the >>>>> one.  The asterisk/ star is ok, but can be hard to get right.

I don't know how often I will wear these polishes because I really like doing my own nail art and metallic polishes aren't my favorite, but I had to try them.  Maybe in the fall/winter I'll be more inclined to use these darker colors but right now its all about the brights!

I just received my order from Born Pretty and am eager to get working on some new designs with my new toys.  More posts to come soon!!!

The thing is...

Nail polish/art lovers have one thing in common.  The overwhelming and obsessive need to  buy more and more nail polish.  And we don't always remember what colors we have so we end up with doubles (sometimes triples-hey...we REALLY liked that color!)  I have just begun my collection and already have over 120 polishes, not including my 25 stripers.  I also have about 80 acrylic colors, plus another 40 acrylics for canvas painting....which I haven't even started to use on nails although that day is coming very soon.  Oh the colors I could make!

So that being said, storage becomes an issue, especially when you have had other obsessions in the past (like hairbow making-resulting in four double ribbon racks that are all full plus some), jewelry making (resulting in 10 full bead trays and more), tutu making (resulting in a large bin of tulle that lives in my closet)....That is just the beginning.  Crap!  That just gave me another idea!  haha....

My poor husband...  we'd better win the lottery because my collections are going to need a bigger house!

I've always been a beauty product fiend....but more recently, my love of everything nails has somewhat taken over.  I'm a crafter....more specifically I have crafters ADD.  I can't stick to one thing for too long or I get bored.  But painting is something I have loved for a long time now.  I have two little ones (3 and 5) and pulling out my canvases, easel and paints is a chore, that normally ends in me being too tired to actually be inspired.  So I turned to my own ten little canvases and discovered a whole new world of painting.

I am going to apologize for the quality of my pictures.  I stared with taking them on my phone, and even my camera leaves something to be desired, but I will do the best I can.  I am always looking for ideas and inspiration, so if there is something you would like to see, let me know!  Here is a bit of picture spam to introduce what I do....

I have more pictures to share and have an etsy store selling hand painted nails, but I will get to that.  For now, I'm off to figure out how to make this blog pretty!!!  I haven't been on here in ages and blogger has changed quite a bit!  Hope you enjoy!
